How tax-free shopping works

Three simple steps – the VAT is removed for you automatically.

1

Browse from your country

Our store detects your location and shows tax-free prices to visitors outside the EU. You can also simply select your country in the top bar of the site.

2

Check out with 0% VAT

Enter a delivery address outside the EU. Your cart and checkout will show “Included tax value: 0.00” – confirmation that no VAT is charged.

3

Receive your watch

We ship with tracked express couriers and include all export documents. Any local import duty or tax is handled by the courier on arrival.

What is VAT and why you don’t pay it

VAT (Value Added Tax) is a consumption tax charged in every European Union country. In Slovakia, where WatchExclusive is based, the standard rate is 23% and it is included in the prices shown to EU customers.

Under EU tax law, goods exported to a country outside the European Union are exempt from VAT (0% rate). That is why we can offer customers in the USA, Canada, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Norway, Japan, Australia and every other non-EU country the same watches at a considerably lower, VAT-free price.

WatchExclusive is operated by I&M Montres s. r. o., a watch retailer established in 2007 with a physical showroom in Bratislava – you buy directly from a registered European company, with warranty and original documentation.

Import duties and local taxes – what to expect

We remove the EU VAT. Your own country may apply its own import charges – here is how that works, with no surprises.

When a parcel from the EU arrives in your country, local customs may apply import VAT or sales tax and, in some cases, customs duty. These charges are set by your country, not by us, and depend on the value of the watch and local thresholds. Many countries have a duty-free allowance for lower-value parcels.

If any charges apply, the courier (DHL, UPS or your postal service) clears the parcel through customs and collects the amount before or on delivery. WatchExclusive does not add or collect these fees, and they are not included in your order total.

Because our prices are already VAT-free, most customers still pay noticeably less overall than they would buying the same watch with EU VAT included.

Included with every international order:
  • Commercial invoice with the exact declared value
  • Customs export declaration
  • Shipping documents and a tracking number
  • Warranty card and original brand documentation
Customs rules differ from country to country. If you would like to know the exact charges before ordering, contact your local customs office or ask us – we are happy to help.

Using a VPN or proxy? Tax-free prices are based on the country of your billing and delivery address, not on your IP address. If the store shows EU prices even though you live outside the EU, simply create an account with your real non-EU billing address – the correct VAT-free prices will be displayed once you are logged in.

Customers and businesses within the EU

Delivering within the European Union? Here is how VAT applies to your order.

For all orders delivered within the EU, Slovak VAT of 23% is included in the price and no customs formalities apply.

VAT-registered companies in other EU member states can purchase without VAT (reverse-charge): enter your valid EU VAT number at checkout and the VAT will be removed automatically. This does not apply to companies registered in Slovakia, where VAT must always be charged.

EU member states: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden.

Tax-free shopping – frequently asked questions

Quick answers to the questions international customers ask most often.

Do I really pay no VAT when ordering from outside the EU?

Yes. If your delivery address is outside the European Union, your order is exported with a 0% VAT rate. The prices you see and pay in our store do not include any European VAT.

How much do I save compared with buying in the EU?

EU prices include 23% VAT. Removing it makes the same watch roughly 19% cheaper for you – a saving of about €190 on a €1,000 watch, before any local import charges in your country.

Do I need to fill in any tax-refund forms?

No. Unlike traditional tax-free shopping in shops or at airports, the VAT is simply never charged. There is nothing to claim back and nothing to send us.

Will I have to pay customs duty or import tax?

That depends on your country and the value of the watch. Where charges apply, they are calculated by your customs authority and collected by the courier before delivery. We provide all documents needed for a quick clearance.

Does the tax-free price apply to every watch?

Yes – every brand and every model in our store is available VAT-free for non-EU customers, with no minimum order value.

Is the warranty valid in my country?

Yes. Every watch comes with its warranty and original documentation, and our team assists you with any service or warranty request wherever you are.
